PLATE RACKS & BOOK SHELVES
THE PLATE RACK COLLECTION
ART NOUVEAU
GOTHIC
ARTS & CRAFTS
The plate rack collection consists of three plate racks, each with it’s own distinctive architectural / design style; Art Nouveau, Gothic and Arts & Crafts. Each unique style evokes the nostalgia of a bygone Victorian era, a period of great productivity and prosperity, a time when Britain was the most powerful nation in the world.
The three different styles are:
ART NOUVEAU: Imagine the drawings of Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, Paris subway entrances, Aubrey Beardsley’s Salome, Gaudi’s ceramics and Tiffany lamps.
GOTHIC: Imagine the flying buttresses’ and pointed arches of St Pancreas station, Pugin’s Victoria and Albert museum, Victor Hugo’s Hunchback of Notre Dame and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
ARTS & CRAFTS: Imagine the decorative wallpapers of William Morris, Charles Rennie Mackintosh Chair backs, Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass and Edward Lutyens architecture.
These beautiful plate racks will command attention and work well as a stand alone item in your home or integrate with an existing kitchen just as happily. They serve a dual function, drying racks for those household items that are best drip dried, and display racks for your favourite kitchen ware. As such, the plate racks are best located over a sink or water friendly surface, however, they are equally effective elsewhere in your kitchen or pantry if drip drying is not their intended principal use. In truth, they look lovely everywhere.
The plate racks are available from stock in a choice of four widths (2’, 3’, 4’ and 5’) or alternatively a bespoke service is available and any width possible (P.O.A.). The standard workshop finish is Danish oil however if you want to add colour to your plate rack, we strongly recommend a choice of 16 Formica laminate colours (see craftsmanship). A third alternative is to purchase the plate rack bare of oil or Formica and paint the rack yourself in a colour of your choice.
